    One John Street is officially a LEED Gold certified building!

    One John Street was able to achieve this certification because the designers, owners and contractor worked together to earn points in several areas of sustainability by preforming better than is otherwise required. The goal – to provide a healthy and sustainable built environment. The most meaningful of these initiatives were water and energy conservation.

    The 2,000 Gallon Project comes to an end but lives on with 17 trees planted throughout Gowanus

    The 2,000 Gallon Project comes to an end, but lives on as the trees and plants were removed from the dumpsters and rooted in various empty tree pits and green spaces throughout Gowanus. The remaining soil and dumpsters will be recycled as planters in Industry City. Thanks to Gowanus Canal Conservative and for all the Sponsors that made 2KGP a successful project!

    Alloy announces the opening of Recess Assembly, a pilot arts and educational program in Downtown Brooklyn

    Supported by Alloy, Recess and Brooklyn Justice Initiatives will take over a vacant storefront at 370 Schermerhorn Street in Downtown Brooklyn for a nine-month pilot program featuring local artists who will create new works in a public setting. The storefront which includes a classroom for an arts-based diversion program is being donated and built out by Alloy and will open in January 2017.

    Spark by Brooklyn Children's Museum at One John Street is Now Open!

    Spark by Brooklyn Children's Museum is now open at One John Street. The space was donated to Brooklyn Bridge Park by Alloy and Monadnock with the desire to bring arts-orientated programming to the park and surrounding communities. The design and outfit of the space was provided by Alloy in an effort to minimize the upfront costs to the museum.

    Brooklyn's Fall Culture Kick-Off

    Hosted by Alloy and Downtown Brooklyn Partnership, the Fall Culture Kick-Off took place at Temple Square in Downtown Brooklyn and featured live music, dance, art, and performance from Brooklyn’s preeminent cultural institutions. Over fifteen Brooklyn cultural organizations participated in the event and promoted their upcoming shows, events and public classes.

    Dumbo Townhouses and One John Street win AIA NYS Awards

    We are pleased to announce that the Dumbo Townhouses was cited for "Award of Excellence" and One John Street for an "Award of Merit" from AIA New York State. All winning projects will be displayed at the AIA New York State Design Conference September 29th - October 1st in Saratoga, NY. Congratulations to all the other recipients.

    2000 Gallon Project is Here!

    2000 Gallon Project is a public art installation curated by Alloy and Gowanus Canal Conservancy to raise awareness of our water management issue. Through the Fall, a collection of 2,000 gallon planted dumpsters are scattered around the Gowanus as a visual reminder of the need to retain storm water to prevent the combined storm/sewer system events and reduce the sewage overflow into the canal.

    Ingersoll Senior Housing - NYCHA Next Generation RFP

    Our response to build 165 units of quality affordable housing and a new senior center in Fort Greene. Working in collaboration with HANAC and Monadnock our scheme proposed two volumes of differing scales and character, the understated larger mass of housing is closest to the campus and the Willoughby Senior Center located more prominently at the intersection to embrace the community at large.

    Brooklyn Bridge Park's Dumbo Family Fest

    One John Street was a proud sponsor of this past weekend's Dumbo Family Fest. A good time was had by all who attended. Some of the events that took place were face-painting, bouldering, a dog Olympics, live music and examining insects under microscopes with the Brooklyn Children's Museum.

    1 John Street Facade is Revealed!

    The building wrap and scaffolding comes down. Occupancy starts this summer. The scaffolding is coming down at 1 John Street revealing the large scale windows that project out from the Peterson brick facade with a subtle gradient leading up to the roof. The penthouse courtyards inside are also starting to take shape.
